Aircraft Type selection

The aircraft type is composed of up to 4 characters. These tend to be in groups, for which the first two or three characters are the same. Thus, for example, MD is McDonnell Douglas, IL is Ilyushin and PC is Pilatus. For the planes of type starting with MD we know that the models MD8 (seen at Geneva because they are used by SAS) are particularly noisy.

Preceding a type selection with a minus sign excludes aircraft of that type. However, it is not very useful because of the very large number of types.

Possible entries for this field might be :-

A3 : Airbus 300 series
B73 : Boeing 73x series
IL : Ilyushin
FA : Falcon (Mystère) (but not all Falcons!)
F9 : Falcon 900
RJ : Avro RJ-xx ( 4-engine jets made by British Aerospace)
