Aircraft Registration selection

It is possible to select particular groups of aircraft by specifying all, or just the first part, of the aircraft registration. If the specification starts with a minus sign then it is a request to exclude the groups. Registrations are shown in the results of a request.

Before giving details on these possibilities, please note that mistakes are inevitable in the evaluation of the data that we get from the aircraft transponders and in the process of trying to classify it. Information on the aircraft ICAO 24-bit identifier, obtained from various websites (we have not yet found one which is official and guaranteed to be correct), may contain errors. Thus, any evaluation of the registration of a particular aircraft may not be entirely correc.

Aircraft registrations are most often made up of a one or two character country ientifier, followed by a hyphen, followed by three or four extra characters. Thus, Swiss civil aircraft are normally registered as HB-xyz, whilst those of France are normally registered as F-abcd. However, military aircraft may have completely different registrations.

In checking for specified aircraft registrations, a hyphen (minus sign) within the registration is ignored. Thus, HB-IJK and HBIJK are equivalent specifications.

Given all of the above, some possible selections might be

HBA Select all Swiss-registered aircraft starting HB-A
-FYZ Exclude all French-registered aircraft starting with F-YZ
