Movement Type

This column indicates whether this was a landing or a takeoff.

If our monitoring equipment is able to detect transponder transmission of the aircraft when on the ground and in the air then we classify the type of movement as a Landing or a Takeoff. This will normally imply that the registered time of the movement is accurate. It will almost always also imply that the movement was actually at the airport (with the possible exception of helicopters, as explained below)

If we can detect transmissions only when in the air (and at a very low level) then we infer what is the direction : either Down or Up. Such movements are almost always at Geneva airport.

SPECIAL NOTE : We cannot always absolutely guarantee that any movement was actually at Geneva Airport. This is particularly true for helicopter flights, especially medical ones which might actually be landing at, or taking off from, the hospital. It may also be the case that we sometimes detect movements from a nearby airport, such as the one at Annemasse.

The four possibilities are colour-coded for easy recognition.
