Group definitions
It has been found useful to assign group numbers, from 0 to 9, to different aircraft movements. In general, these are based upon the identification of the aircraft callsign or registration identifier. Two special cases are of an aircraft which has not emitted any callsign (group 0) and one which has emitted a callsign, plus other information, but which has not been identified as any of the groups 1-8.
The definitions of groups 1-8 are :-
| 1 | Aircraft of flights of a regular airline having scheduled passenger services to or from Geneva |
| 2 | Aircraft of flights of a regular airline having scheduled freight-only services |
| 3 | Non-scheduled Swiss airlines (charter, taxi) using a callsign allocated by the ICAO |
| 4 | Non-scheduled non-Swiss airlines (charter, taxi) using a callsign allocated by the ICAO |
| 5 | Not yet assigned |
| 6 | Private aviation, unknown country registration |
| 7 | Private business aviation, but registered in Switzerland |
| 8 | Private business aviation, registered outside Switzerland |
